This is the left (northern) structure of a thunderstorm that has split. Left split storms often exhibit characteristics that are opposite of conventional storms in the Northern Hemisphere. It is rotating backwards and the updraft tower leans south resulting in a downdraft which is also at the opposite (south) end of the storm. In these respects the storm behaves somewhat like it would if it existed south of the Equator.
