It is normally quite windy below Independence Pass but occasionally the morning air is calm. When the atmosphere is still, fog will often develop over the lakes at the base of the mountain. In this scene the morning sun warms the valley and the undulating fog breaks to reveal a perpetually changing view of the peaks now covered with fresh fallen overnight snow.
